The Sony Vaio VGN-NS140E is a 15-inch mainstream laptop worthy of your consideration, thanks to its low cost, solid construction, roomy and comfortable keyboard, and current Intel platform.

It's kind of your run-off-the-mill 15-inch mainstream laptop, cost under a thousand dollars. It's based on a Core 2 Duo processor, which is found in a lot of other retail models right now. Three-gigs of RAM and 32-bid Vista. It's available in a couple of colors. This one happens to be white. It's got a textured plastic finish. I think it will hold up well to abuse, although the white might show some dings sooner than a darker color. Below the keyboard it's a nice wide touchpad. The matte-finish, nice feel to that. Unfortunately, the mouse buttons are a bit clucky, kind of feel cheap and plasticky. Again, a 15-inch screen with a 1280 by 800 resolution, pretty standard resolution for a laptop this size. It weighs just over 6 pounds, again pretty standard. This is your basic mainstream kind of right down the middle of the road laptop. So you see on this laptop, it's just kind of sparse minimalist design, which I like on the whole, they didn't over-designed it, but I do wish they -- they have plenty of room up here that I wish they're, you know Sony would have thrown-in a strip of a some media control keys. I don't even need them to be touch sensitive, just give me a couple buttons here, so I can Play, Pause, Rewind without having to reach for the function key and, you know the row of F keys at the top to control my media. So, as a basic mainstream laptop you get a basic selection of ports. You're not gonna find eSATA, you're not gonna find HDMI. You get VGA out as your video out. You get a couple of USB ports on either side of the laptop. So overall this is not gonna standout with -- you're not providing any features, you're not gonna find elsewhere or you know excellent performance above, you know anything else in its price range, but I think you've seen the story, really liked the design. It's just got a nice feel to it, just a well-designed laptop. I'm Matt Elliott and this is the Sony Vaio VGN-NS140E. ^M00:01:50 [ Music ]
