First Look: Sony Vaio E series

2:18 /

Sony pays some needed attention to the lower end of the midsize laptop market, with the sharp-looking new Vaio E series.

I'm Dan Ackerman and we are here taking a first look at the new Sony Vaio. Now the line of mid sized laptops this year however the it's got wraparound and one color it's a keyboard tray out to the back of the lid and then sort of an interior color in this case it's black and if you look at it from the side it's almost as if somebody sort of sliced into me -- -- they don't think you kind of came to open. I've seen some other color combinations that pop a little bit more than this gray on black version of that this is still pretty nice looking I want to be -- -- like the most about this new. Is the excellent keyboard -- the keys are nice and chunky they have a really good typing feel to them. And of course they're backlit which is having appreciated a lot of that any price range and seeing it on the lower cost laptop. I think is really great. How they've also need to -- taking the touchpad and turning it into what we call -- click -- that means that they -- the left and right mouse buttons right into the -- itself rather than having separate buttons. I can do multi finger gestures on the air it's not really ads as smooth and responsive as both physically and on a MacBook is Apple's really really guys who started off while click -- thing. All but -- again of the mid to lower mid priced flat -- -- it does it does fine. I got a couple of USB ports including USB three -- and you have something really odd there you only find in some Levi announced yet the memory stick slot. And a regular SD card slot because obviously a lot of Sony products to use that every stick -- if you like it's it's less than last. All the time. One thing's gonna make the system stand out as sort of a lower priced laptop is -- fact that the fifty inch screen only has a thirteen 66 by 768 resolution. That's fine for a thirteen inch laptop -- eleven and yes on and on budget mid sized flat out. Up when you get that fifty -- -- that is one the industry gives away and this is not a super expensive product has been a little bit more. You get -- -- 16100 by 900 screen which I -- works a lot better in this size but other than that that this is a very nice update to Sony's. -- enactment -- that as a first look -- The Sony Vaio.
