CES 2012: Simple.TV lets you stream live TV to all of your devices

1:17 /

Use your existing Internet devices to record and stream live TV on your smartphones or computers.

Hey guys. I'm Sharon Vaknin for CNET.com. Taking a first look at Simple TV. The device that lets you record and playback over the air HD TV and cable. Now what's interesting about this device is that it doesn't actually connect via HDMI. It utilizes your existing streaming devices like Roku, Google TV or Boxee. Now there's no built in hard drive. So if you want to record shows essentially turning Simple TV into a DVR, you'll have to connect your own device via USB 2.0. By paying $5 a month extra you can access those recorded TV shows and movies on any of your devices. Simple TV has an app for iOS, Android and you can access those movies and TV shows on your web browser. That monthly fee also let you set up automated recordings from your phone. With Simple TV, your streaming devices turn into DVRs that'll let you stream your content no matter where you are. Simple TV will come out in the Spring for a $149 plus an optional $5 a month fee. For CNET.com, I'm Sharon Vaknin.
