First Look: JBL On Time Micro1:23 /
The JBL On Time Micro offers pretty much everything you'd want from a bedside iPod speaker dock-AM/FM radio, such as multiple alarms, good audio, and a remote control. We just wish it did all that for a third of the price.
>>Speakers for the iPod are a dime a dozen these days which is probably why I think they should cost about that much. Okay, maybe $50 to a $100 is a bit more reasonable for your average speaker dock but certainly not $250 like this JBL On Time Micro. That's not to say that this little unit doesn't have plenty of attractive qualities, but $250? That's a bit of a stretch. But moving along, let's talk about what I do like. First off, the On Time Micro has a pleasantly compact footprint. It will fit nicely on any bedside table. Also, while style is a matter of preference, I'm personally fond of the sci-fi design echoed throughout the On Time product line right down to the eerie blue backlighting on the buttons on the LCD. In addition, the Micro offers both AM and FM radio, a remote control and plentiful alarms with the option to wake up to pretty much any audio you want. There's also a line input on the back of the unit for connecting other MP3 players such as the Shuffle. Finally, sound quality is good considering the size of the unit and the speakers get incredibly loud. ^M00:00:58 [ Music ] ^M00:01:05 However, the Micro isn't perfect. It sounds hollow at the loudest volumes and the plethora of controls make it a bit confusing to navigate. So, again, I ask $250? I don't think so. I'm Jasmine France and this has been a first look at the JBL On Time Micro.
