iPad Mini won't be the only Apple news
-Apple's got more than the meaning of its sleeve.
I'm Bridget Carey, and this is your CNET Update.
Everyone is obsessed with the news of an iPad Mini and yes the Mini will be the star of Apple's news announcement on Tuesday, but Apple will show off more than just a small tablet.
We're expecting to see at least one new computer model, so that could be a new iMac desktop or a Mac Mini.
We've also heard a report that Apple will give its 13-inch MacBook Pro laptop a retina display.
Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, has said the Mac Pro will get a big update in 2013, but it may be too early to announce that upgrade, and when Apple does talk about the iPad Mini, there will be a big focus around education and bringing it into classrooms.
That's according to a report from Bloomberg.
Oh and don't forget, Apple showed off the new iTunes at the iPhone 5 news event.
It's not available yet, but Apple could finally release that iTunes update.
All will be revealed Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Pacific 1 p.m.
Eastern, so log on to cnet.com to follow the live coverage of the announcement.
But Apple is not the only one coming out with new gadgets.
On Friday, the new Windows 8 computers and tablets go on sale.
And next week on Monday, October 29th, Google will be showing off new smartphones and tablets.
CNET has learned that Google will unveil a Nexus 4 smartphone made by LG and will also show off a 10-inch Nexus tablet made by Samsung.
It's going to be an upgraded version of the Nexus 7 and it's supposed to have a better screen resolution than the latest iPad.
Google will also announce Android version
4.2, which is an upgrade to Jelly Bean.
In other news, Verizon costumers with Android phones can pay for Google Play Store downloaded apps, music, and movies through their monthly phone bills.
Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile already have had the ability to do this.
Remember Facebook Questions where you can create a poll for any topic?
Well, no one really uses it anymore.
So, Facebook is quietly phasing out that feature, but Pages and Groups can still create questions.
And Microsoft is running a promotion.
Anyone who buys Office 2010 or
2011 can now download an upgrade to 2013 for free whenever it comes out.
A new type of mobile payments service that will compete with Google Wallet has launched in Salt Lake City and Austin, Texas.
It's called Isis and it's a collaboration between Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile to create a standard way to pay by tapping a smartphone to a sensor out of register.
For it to work, though, you need a smartphone with an NFC chip.
Aside from being used as a credit or debit card, the Isis program also stores coupons and can be used for targeted marketing,
but of course, the biggest challenge of all this technology is why use a phone app, when it's still just as easy to pull out a credit card?
