CTIA 2014 Super Mobility Week: Huawei Ascend 2

1:14 /

When all is said and done, the slimmer, lighter, and sleeker Huawei Ascend leaps past its predecessor.

-Hi, I'm Jessica Dolcourt for CNET here at CTIA taking a first look at the Huawei Ascend 2 for Cricket. Now, this phone isn't out yet. This is, in fact, a preproduction model that I've got here. Now, it does run Android 2.2 Froyo. Unfortunately, that's not gonna be Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It's got a big 3.5-inch display here. One of the biggest choices about this phone is that it's a follow up to the original Ascend. It's a lot lighter. It's a lot leaner. It doesn't have a trackball and instead of having hardware buttons, it's got these touch-sensitive buttons down below. Other than that, the specs are also changed on the camera. It's moved up from 3.2 megapixel camera to 5 megapixel camera. So, there are definitely some improvements to this phone. It's also gonna run on an 800 megahertz processor. It's gonna be a little bit faster than the previous version, but still not super faster [unk] finding now. So, this is definitely gonna be an improvement. Cricket has not yet announced pricing or release date. So, we'll have that for you as soon as we know. Again, I'm Jessica Dolcourt for CNET looking at the Huawei Ascend 2 for Cricket Wireless.
