First Look: Dell's Inspiron 11 3000 gives budget buyers something to flip for

For its sub-$500 price, this 11-inch hybrid delivers everyday ultraportable performance and a long battery life.

The Windows 8.1 Ultra Portable, is one of our favorite designs, is the 360 degree hinge hybrid originally made popular by Lanova's Yoga Line. A design that was subsequently adopted by other laptop makers including Dell. I'm Josh Goldman with C-Net and the Inspiron on 11 3 thousand does the whole clam shell to tablet thing with stops in between that work better for playing games, presentations or watching movies. The 11.6 inch touch screen has a 1366 by 768 resolution and has an IPS panel so you get good viewing angles but it doesn't get terribly bright. As you might expect from [UNKNOWN] $500 laptop, the features are nothing spectacular. You can get an Intel Celeron or Pentium processor, four gigs of ram, 500 gig hard drive and integrated intel HD graphics. It's enough for work or school basics, which is fine because with its size and three pound weight, it makes for a nice commuter notebook, especially with its more than seven hours of battery life in our tests. You don't get things like a backlit keyboard, the bottom can get pretty hot, wi-fi is 802.11n. Not AC, and there's just one USB 3.0 port. But that's on par with the competition. You can read the full review on CNet.com. But this is a very good alternative to Lenovo's 11" Yoga 2 with better battery life. I'm Josh Goldman, and that's a look at Dell's Inspiron 11 3000. [MUSIC]
