CES 2012: Charging on the go just got easier with Powerbag

2:41 /

Rafe Needleman gets a hands-on look at the Powerbag, a bag that can literally charge your devices on the go.

Speaker 1: Hi, it's Rafe Needleman here at CES Unveil. We're looking at the PowerBag. If you got too many gadgets and they're all running out of juice, this product charges them on the go. Speaker 2: Yes this is a must have product, yeah. Speaker 1:It's Ralph from... president of... Speaker 2: I'm president... This is... The company is called RFA. We got PowerBag and myCharge. So we're talking here about PowerBag today, okay, and what PowerBag is, it's basically a bag that has a battery system built into it already. The (premise?) over here is you basically open the side over here, you have an outlet over here. You plug your... this is just a regular outlet, it comes with the back power supply, you plug the bag in... it charges. So the lights flash when it's charging. When it's fully charged, bottom line, what happens over here is you can... you open your bag, you have pockets over here. So you have a pocket for your... for your charger but you have these individual pockets for your Apple device, for your micro... your micro devices. You also have a female USB that you can hook something else that you might have, like a tablet. It'll charge your tablets, your iPads. It'll charge pretty much any handheld device, right? Speaker 1: But not a laptop. Speaker 2: It won't charge a laptop because a laptop battery is too expensive and would add a weight to the laptop battery to it. So it'll be too heavy. Speaker 1: What is the battery weight in this thing? Speaker 2: This one happens to be a 3,000... The battery comes with these devices a little bit bigger than this. So you could feel the weight. It's not very, very heavy. It's Lithium Ion Technology... I'm sorry, Lithium Polymer Technology. I'm on the camera so I... So bottom line with this, what's really, really cool about this bag besides the fact that it will keep you like charged all the time, you have an option on this bag to have tone or voice. What does that mean tone or voice? If you plug the bag into charge, you plug in a device, it'll make a sound but if you pick the voice, it'll speak to you in 12 languages. Everything from Hindi, Mandarin... Speaker 1: Wait, wait, wait, wait. This bag talks to me about the state of charge. Speaker 2: Yes exactly. If you press the button to see what your charge is in your bag and your bag is at 50%, it'll tell you... Speaker 1: That sounds like... Speaker 2: ...in Chinese, it's 50%. If you're plugging... Speaker 1: A critical feature. Speaker 2: If you're plugging in an Apple device... no, it's cool. I don't know if it's critical, but it's cool. Speaker 1: It is cool. It is cool. Speaker 2: But if you plug in your Apple device, it'll tell you charging your Apple device. So it tells you what it's doing and then if you want to shut up you can turn it off. Speaker 1: Okay, how much is it and where do you get it? Speaker 2: 139. This bag is gonna be launched in June but today our existing line of PowerBags which are super cool are at... you can get them at BestBuy, you can get them over at State... I'm sorry, at OfficeMax... and some other retailers as well... Fry's. Speaker 1: That's called the PowerBag. Speaker 2: PowerBag. Speaker 1: Right on. Thanks a lot. Speaker 2: Thank you.
