>> Natalie Del Conte: Hi, I'm Natalie Del Conte here at the Herb's Theatre in San Francisco where we're getting ready for the Crunchies to start behind me. No, that's not a breakfast cereal. It's an entrepreneurial awards ceremony put on by some of the top blogs around in technology including TechCrunch, GigaOm, ReadWriteWeb, and VentureBeat. So we're expecting some awards for things like best entrepreneur of the year, best new startup most likely to stick around. So we're gonna see what happens, get ready for that.

>> Michael Arrington: My name is Michael Arrington, I'm the founder of TechCrunch. We have the Richter Scale scene to make fun of us all, but I mean, obviously this is a wonderful period of human history they're going through right now, and it's okay to celebrate that.
>> And that winner for the best startup CO leader is Tony Schneider! Come on up.

>> Tony Schneider: That was a really fun event and it's always great to win.
>> Natalie Del Conte: So we're here at the Crunchies in the after party with Rafe Needleman who's the editor of WebWare. So how did you enjoy the Crunchies?
>> Rafe Needleman: Well it's always great to see startups honored for doing what they do. I mean, you know, there's some really cool products here and really cool companies here. And there's a lot of awards, but it was cool to see products like, you know, WordPress and Facebook and the smaller ones get some recognition for all the hard work they've been doing.
>> So the Crunchie for the best startup founder is - - Anyone wanna guess? Mark Zuckerberg.

>> Jim Greer: This is pretty heavy plastic by the way. So this is my sister and co-founder, Emily. Not my wife, Alisha is her name. So I'd like to thank the over 1,000 people who have uploaded games to Congregate.
>> Natalie Del Conte: And Emily I believe is the only female winner of a Crunchie, is that true?
>> Emily: I was the only one on stage.
>> Natalie Del Conte: Way to go, sister. So you won best time [ inaudible ] that must be an honor.
>> There's a lot of ways to waste your time on the internet, so to be called out for that, yes, we're very proud.
>> Natalie Del Conte: So that wraps up the first annual Crunchies, which is a very exciting night for the Web 2.0 community. We saw some surprises and some awards that were not at all surprises actually. And we also saw people laugh in a very tongue in cheek way at the whole bubble thing. So we will continue to see how that plays out in 2008. Thanks for watching CNET TV, I'm Natalie Del Conte and you've been watching the first annual Crunchies.
