Microsoft says handheld software back in sync
Company delivers software update to fix handhelds and cell phones that had been prevented from connecting properly with a PC.
The software maker said ActiveSync 4.1 should fix problems that some buyers of new handhelds encountered when trying to share information with a PC.
"Our developers have been hard at work to address customer reported connectivity challenges...between ActiveSync and Windows Mobile 5.0 devices," Microsoft said in a statement. "We are pleased to announce that Microsoft ActiveSync 4.1 is now available."
The software is available from Microsoft's Web site.
Microsoft had said it planned to have an ActiveSync update by sometime this month. The issue affected devices that were running Microsoft's Windows Mobile 5 operating system and that tried to connect to a computer over a USB connection, particularly when a firewall or parental control software was in use.
Those using a wireless connection or connecting to a server were not affected.
