Collapsible menu bar
The RoadMate 2.0 app's info bar can be hidden or displayed at the touch of a button to show as much or as little info as needed and maximize screen real estate.
Turn-by-turn directions
Of course, the primary function of the RoadMate app is to give turn-by-turn directions, which it does with spoken street names and unobtrusive chimes.
Connected search
Google Local search and Yelp integration join RoadMate's standard POI database.
It's full of stars
Yelp search results include user-generated reviews with from one to five stars.
Routing
Clicking the orange arrow next to a venue takes you to the Route Overview screen, where you can initiate navigation.
Switch to Yelp?
Tapping the rating triggers a switch to the Yelp app (which is a separate download).
Yelp app
Yelp's app features more detailed user reviews and info about the venue in question.
Heading back to RoadMate
If the venue is a restaurant that takes reservations, you can make one using OpenTable. Or, by using iOS' multitasking shortcut, you can return to the RoadMate app.
Google Local search
Searching with Google allows you to pull local POIs from the search giant's database of destinations.
Google search result
Google search entries are less detailed than the average Yelp review, but often include user reviews as well.
OneTouch menu
Yelp and Google searches can be saved to Magellan's OneTouch menu. So if you're a fan of, for example, Ethiopian food, the best local spots can always be at your fingertips.
Traffic
The RoadMate app also features traffic data, but this feature is (oddly) disabled by default.
Trip planner
Multiple destinations can be programmed and routed to in sequence. There's even an optimize option that will automatically reorganize a list of destinations for minimal travel time or distance.
Current location
RoadMate can also store the location of your car, which can be used with pedestrian mode if you forget where you parked.
iPod integration
You can even control playback of iOS' iPod application from within the app.
