Hyundai Genesis at SEMA Show

Last year, Hyundai was all about its Genesis at the SEMA Show. This year, as indicated by this banner, is the Genesis Coupe's time to shine.
Let's just cut to the chase and say that the Rhys Millen Racing RM460 was one of the coolest customs on display at SEMA.
Like every other Genesis Coupe, the RM460 is rear-wheel driven. However, the RM460 is the only Genesis Coupe with a hatch back. But that's not the only way that it differs.
Just behind the driver's seat is a heavily modified V-8 engine yanked from beneath the hood of the larger Genesis sedan.
The V-8 engine breathes in through individual throttle bodies and out through a huge dual-exhaust system.
Because the engine compartment is separated from the cabin with sheet metal and plastic glass, the RM460 draws in fresh air through a pair of carbon fiber vents that replace the rear windows.
So with the engine in the back, what's under the hood? We're told the radiator still lives in the front, but the rest of the engine bay is empty.
The interior has been trimmed in carbon fiber and suede, is otherwise as stock as a rock.
With its weight and balance drastically altered, the RM460 has undergone substantial suspension retuning. However, like all tuner cars, it's still something of a work in progress.
Sticking with the performance theme, but at a much less extreme level, GReddy brought out this tuned and modded Genesis Coupe.
The GReddy Genesis Coupe started life as a stock 2.0T model before receiving full engine and suspension upgrades, including a GReddy Performance Products Turbo Upgrade Kit.
The GReddy Genesis has looks to go with its new performance. A JP USA body kit replaces the stock bumpers and side skirts before being wrapped in custom graphics. 19-inch Volk Racing G2 wheels and wide Toyo Proxes tires complete the look and increase the grip.
If you're excitedly thinking that Hyundai has built a fully carbon fiber bodied Genesis Coupe, prepare to be slightly disappointed. The Hennessey Tuner School Genesis Coupe is merely wrapped in carbon fiber-look vinyl.
This wasn't exactly one of our favorite Genesis Coupes on display, as the vinyl wrap's seams were painfully obvious.
While the Hennessey Genesis benefits from an upgraded turbo, fuel system, and intake, its suspension only receives a set of lowering springs and these chrome Savini rims are more of a styling statement than a performance upgrade.
Taking a break from the cars for a moment, Hyundai's booth featured a pair of couches and a couple of Xbox 360s playing Forza Motorsport 3.
Hyundai preferred that we focused on playing with the Genesis Coupe, which is featured in the game, but we were also able to sample some of the other cars when no one was looking.
If this were your Hyundai Genesis, you'd probably be freaking out right now. However, in the hands of Detroit-based illustrator and graphic designer Courtney Mason, this Street Concepts Genesis is being transformed into a rolling work of art.
It's amazing that this was done almost completely with sharpie-like paint pens.
The Street Concepts Genesis also featured 22-inch wheels, lowering springs, a custom Harman International audio system, Nav-TV interface and Vizualogic headrest monitors.
Before she lays on the paint, Mason first sketches in her outlines.
Once she'd completed the first side, Mason sets about working on the rear passenger side.
Finally, Hyundai revealed the production version of its Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec.
We've already had a look at this spartan performance variant. Check out the full post for more details.
