2022 Triumph Speed Twin has retro looks with a modern ride
This is the Bonneville that we've always wanted and it's all we'd hoped for.
Triumph's Speed Twin is the high-performance Bonneville we've always wanted.
It has a 1200-cc parallel-twin engine that makes 99 horsepower and 83 pound-feet of torque.
That engine also makes a delightful 270-degree-firing-order rumble which is enjoyed through a surprisingly loud factory exhaust.
The Speed Twin also gets modern Brembo four-piston brake calipers and a non-adjustable Marzocchi suspension.
That suspension, while mostly adequate, is the only thing that really lets the Speed Twin down.
The bike is comfortable and composed, but the overly soft suspension takes away from the feeling of control.
Like other Triumphs, the Speed Twin is beautifully made and finished.
The tech isn't cutting edge but works well and feels appropriate for a bike of this type.
The Speed Twin represents back-to-basics motorcycling and should appeal to anyone looking for comfort and a turn of speed.
The bike retails for $12,500 and is available in dealers now.
