The Samsung Four-Door Flex Food Showcase Refrigerator.

Doors in all of the doors, I always say, but at least Samsung is meeting me a fourth of the way there with its new $3,400 Four-Door Flex Food Showcase fridge. Pull the right fridge door open from the bottom half of the handle, and you'll actually pull the door's front panel open, leaving the fridge closed and the in-door shelves exposed.

The fridge represents a union of two of Samsung's more popular fridge features: Food Showcase doors and Flex functionality, which lets you dial the right half of the freezer up into fridge mode for extra fresh food storage space. It's the first time you've been able to get both features in one fridge, and the first time Samsung's incorporated Food Showcase into any four-door model.

The fridge offers 28 cubic feet of total storage space, slightly down from last year's four-door models. Samsung tells me that's a response to customer calls for four-door fridges that weren't quite so deep. If you want something truly shallow that'll sit flush with your countertops, there's also a 23 cubic foot counter-depth model that'll cost a little extra.

Like a lot of Samsung's new refrigerators, the Four-Door Flex Food Showcase model comes with the option of a black-tinted stainless steel finish. Going with black stainless steel will likely add $100 to the price, though Samsung hasn't confirmed pricing for all of its different versions just yet.

Samsung says that the Four-Door Flex Food Showcase fridge should start selling by March, a few months before the launch of the similar-looking Samsung Family Hub Refrigerator, which replaces the door-in-a-door with an enormous 21.5" touchscreen and Wi-Fi smarts. We'll plan to review both models in the coming months back in our Louisville, Kentucky test facility. International availability is yet to be determined, but that starting price of $3,400 comes out to about £2,340, or AU$4,870.
