Yahoo entertains, unveils news products from CES stage (pictures)
During her star-studded CES keynote Tuesday, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer announces news initiatives like digital magazines and a twice-daily new digest. But she also throws in some live SNL schticks and a smooth Beatles rendition by John Legend.

LAS VEGAS -- Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer on Tuesday took the CES stage, where she announced several new news products, including a twice-daily summary of trending headlines called Yahoo News Digets, and digital magazines, starting with Yahoo Tech and Yahoo Food.

Yahoo News Digest announced - quick news summaries
Nick D'Aloisio announced the launch of News Digests, an app that delivers twice-daily summaries of the day's top news. Yahoo bought D'Aloisio's news app Summly in 2013.
Yahoo's new digital magazines
Mayer announced the company's new digital magazines, specially designed websites that deliver original content and news. The first two magazines are Yahoo Food and Yahoo Tech, the latter is led by former New York Times columnist David Pogue, who joined Yahoo in 2013.

Pogue was there to kick off the official launch of Yahoo Tech, right from the stage.
Digital magazines
Mayer expands on how digital magazines work. "We're doing it with bite size content, photos, and video, led by an all-star editorial team," she says.
Yahoo Smart TV
Yahoo's Adam Cahan, SVP of mobile and emerging products, took the stage to talk about Yahoo's video efforts. The company has a connected TV service, called Smart TV, which is available on select internet-enabled TVs. There's also a Smart TV app for the iPad.
Yahoo announced a new partnership with Viacom to bring episodes of "The Daily Show with John Stewart" and "The Colbert Report" to Smart TV.
Device usage
More users are watching video on tablets in the evening hours, says Cahan.
Smarter television
Smart TV's new smart guide learns what you like to watch from on-demand, your cable programming, and the Internet, and then suggests videos that match your tastes. It gets more precise overtime as you watch more and more TV and movies.
Smart TV app
Yahoo's Smart TV app lets you watch clips and video. Lately, the company has been running television ads playing up the fact that you can watch "Saturday Night Live" clips in the app. As a tie-in to those ads, two cast members from SNL came on stage to entertain the crowd.
SNL comedy
SNL star Cecily Strong ran through a "Weekend Update" scene on stage, where she read out fake Yahoo-related headlines, and then interviewed "Al Sharpton," played by Kenan Thompson.
Tumblr updates
Mayer discussed Yahoo's purchase of Tumblr this year.
Tumblr's future
Tumblr founder David Karp was on hand to present new directions in monetization, and opportunities for brands and companies to get involved with Tumblr as an effective marketing strategy.
New ad ventures
Yahoo Senior Vice President Scott Burke discussed new advertising opportunities from the company.
Advertising options
A range of avenues are available to companies looking to make ad purchases, including Yahoo Audience, Yahoo Native Ads, Yahoo Ad Manager, Yahoo Ad Exchange.
John Legend
Last, but not least, John Legend was brought out to close the show.
