ViewSonic's elusive ViewPhone 3 (photos)
You'll have to want the ViewPhone 3's two SIM card slots badly to find this phone. While it'll be primarily marketed in Latin America this spring, you can also buy it unlocked from ViewSonic's Web site.
One you don't see every day
The ViewSonic ViewPhone 3 is mostly headed to Latin American markets, but it will be available unlocked here in the U.S. The main attraction: a pair of SIM card holders so you can operate two phone-number identities from a single device.
Animations galore
The ViewPhone 3 runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but adds a skin that includes a rotating carousel of app panels, and some interesting animations.
Specs are so-so
This is not intended to be a high-end device by the U.S. superphone standard. It has a 3.5-inch display, a 5-megapixel camera, and a 800GHz processor. (A tethering device on the back of the phone prevented me from getting a full photo.)
Not a looker
The phone looks like a thick slab of rubbery material; it's not the sharpest-looking of devices, a trait I find confusing for a phone that's to be marketed for Latin American business users. It'll be available unlocked from the company's Web site for about $280.00.
