Toyota and Tesla Motors consummate their partnership with the unveiling of the Toyota RAV4 EV concept. Yes, it's just a concept for now.
Toyota plans to build 35 of its second-generation RAV4 EV, which is essentially a highly finished test mule that utilizes a virtually unmodified RAV4 chassis and Tesla power train.
Aside from an EV-specific instrument cluster, there's not much to discern the RAV4 EV from the RAV4 ICE.
However, this button-driven drive selector has been lifted straight off of the Tesla Roadster.
As high-tech as the power train may be, the EV still features a fairly dated-looking infotainment system. Granted, that's not really the point of these mules.
Telsa Motors co-founder Elon Musk poses alongside the EV.
The EV features a few minor aesthetic changes, including a unique front bumper and LED fog lamps tucked into these vents.
Range is expected to be a real-world 100 miles between charges.
