This reference design is fairly thin and is built around AMD's new generation of RX-series graphics cards.
It has the HDMI output and USB 3.0 inputs required of both the Vive and Oculus Rift.
Like the similar HP prototype, this backpack requires a rather hefty battery, here housed in two compartments hanging from the belt loop.
Since it's an Alienware, it has to have a glowing alien head, of course.
While not even close to final hardware, this prototype was surprisingly slim.
It has a carry handle on top, but keep in mind this is a reference design. It's intended to show off something that could someday be an actual product, but it's far off from being made available.
