Dated design

The Soniclean VT Plus aims for a futuristic design, but we can't say it feels modern, or terribly authentic.

Simple construction

That lack of authenticity might have something to do with the vacuum's overly basic build. For instance, the lack of a pivoting neck automatically makes it feel dated compared to a ball-mounted Dyson vacuum, or the ultra-maneuverable Oreck Touch.

Bare backside

Turn the vacuum around and you won't find any extra attachments. As a matter of fact, you won't find a wand at all.

The buzz on sonic cleaning

The Soniclean VT Plus gets a bit more interesting when you look at its performance claims. With built-in "sonic-cleaning technology," it promises to vibrate your carpet 12,000 times per minute to help jostle particles up and into the bag.

Easy on

You'll flip the vacuum on using a switch that's conveniently mounted into the handle. One click  puts you in hardwood mode, two clicks puts you in carpet mode, with that sonic-cleaning power added in.

Indicator lights

You'll also know that you're in carpet cleaning mode when the blue sonic-cleaning indicator lights begin pulsing on and off.

Under the hood

The Soniclean VT Plus features a wooden brushroll, along with that blue sonic vibration bar. That's the part that gives your carpets a fresh buzz whenever you clean.

Side brushes

Side brushes are a nice touch -- they help the Soniclean VT Plus agitate dirt that's trapped up against your baseboards.

The Soniclean unzipped

The Soniclean's body unzips like a backpack. Inside, you'll find the disposable bag.
