BMW R1200 GS Adventure
The Salon de la Moto in Paris draws hundreds of motorcycles -- and thousands of visitors who want to see the road bikes, off-road machines, scooters, custom motorcycles, and four-wheel all-terrain vehicles.
Street bikes take up the most floor space, but there's plenty of variety. Europeans enjoy the idea of motorcycle treks across Africa, and BMW's R1200 GS Adventure is designed for it. It's got a 1,170cc two-cylinder engine and a $22,700 price.
Yamaha Tricity three-wheel scooter
Three-wheel scooters are popular in Europe, and Yamaha now is showing interest in the market. It debuted a concept called the Tricity. This 330-pound, 125cc machine will go on sale in mid-2014 for a price under 4,000 euros, or about $5,500.
Voxan Motors Wattman electric motorcycle
Voxan Motors debuted its massive Wattman battery-powered motorcycle at the Salon de la Moto motorcycle show in Paris. The 772-pound, 200-horsepower machine has a 12.8kWh battery.
Indian Motorcycle Thunder Stroke 111
Gleaming chrome is the order of the day for the Indian Motorcycle Thunder Stroke 111, a motorcycle with an 1,811cc engine.

2014 Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere
The 2014 Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere has a two-cylinder, 1,199cc engine and is designed for on- or off-road adventure touring. It's got an antilock braking system, too; squeezing the front brake lever activates the brakes for both wheels. For more traditional braking, activating the rear-wheel brake with the foot first makes the brake lever apply only to the front brake. It costs about $20,000.
Honda MotoGP racer
To keep the show visitors fired up, plenty of racing machines are on display, such as Marc Marquez' Honda RCV213V used in the 2013 MotoGP race season.
