Welcome to Citi Field
CNET took a trip to Citi Field to get a sneak peak at location-based services powered by Apple's iBeacon, a new feature found in iOS 7.
A greeting pops up as you get to the front walkway of Citi Field. The greeting is triggered by a nearby beacon that detects the iPhone through a Bluetooth LE (low energy) signal.
Bluetooth-connected Home Run Apple
CNET's Bridget Carey activating a video on the Met's Home Run Apple with a test iPhone 5S loaded with the MLB At the Ballpark app.
Catch a video here
Fans will eventually be able to move their iPhone near the sign to trigger a video or information about the Mets' famed Home Run Apple.
First-time coupon
Through an automatic check-in capability, the park "knows" this is your first time at Citi Field and shoots you a coupon.
Hitting up the Mets store
Coupons can rain down into your phone as you get near the Mets store. Or the beacon can be adjusted so it only gets triggered when you walk through the doors.
