MiiPC lets parents see which apps kids are using (pictures)
We get to grips with the Kickstarter-funded MiiPC.
BERLIN -- This is the MiiPC, a kid-friendly Android PC.
It lets parents see which apps their kids are using.
It connects to a monitor, but if you don't mind paying a fee, you can also have its interface pop up on an Android tablet.
This is what a user profile looks like, and it's what lets parents keep track of which child is using what apps.
Multiple profiles can be set up, if you need to keep track of a whole horde of younglings.
Using a separate app, parents can spy on how long certain apps have been used for.
If your kids are playing too much Angry Birds, you can close it remotely. Back to your homework, kids!
There's an SD card slot on the front, and...
...plenty of ports on the back, too.
Here's a view of the desktop. You can restrict which websites children can access.
You can even see which apps are used most frequently.
This is the view for restricting how much time kids can spend in individual apps.
