Meet the smarter switches and sockets of bRight Switch (pictures)
Take a peek at the newest thing to hit the Internet of things.
The nLine Switch is a full-color, fully programmable, Android-powered touch screen that can control your lights, learn your habits, and even serve as an alarm, an intercom, or a nightlight.
nLine Switches boast customizable displays, too.
The nLine Switch can run apps, like this one that's streaming tunes from Pandora through its built-in speaker. Other apps will let you check recipes or even make Internet phone calls.
The Wi-Fi-ready eLine Switch promises to learn your habits, then automatically light your home accordingly. It can dim incandescent, CFL, or LED lights, or set them on a timer -- perfect for while you're away on vacation.
Installation is as simple as replacing any other wall switch -- just make sure you shut the power off first.
Bright Switch products are preconfigured to work normally after installation. To set up the advanced features, you'll need the Bright Switch app, available for Android and iOS devices, with BlackBerry and Windows Phone versions currently in development.
The eLine Outlet incorporates two USB ports for easy device charging, and features built-in surge protection.
eLine Outlets use the same fully powered base as other Bright Switch devices, and can communicate with other bRight Switches via low-frequency radio. This means you'll be able to turn anything plugged into it on and off remotely.
