Airbnb launched what it calls "experiences" in 12 cities November 2016. These are local excursions that travelers can sign up for, like truffle hunting in Tuscany, surf lessons in Malibu and macaron making in San Francisco.

On Friday the company announced it was planning to launch in 1,000 more cities around the world in 2018.

CNET joined in on the salted caramel macaron making class with Chef Eloise at her DeLise Dessert cafe in San Francisco's North Beach.
