LG Optimus S
The LG Optimus S is one of Sprint's launch devices for Sprint ID Packs, a user interface customization system that lets you swap out different suites of widgets and applications based on an "ID" profile. You can swap out different ID Packs for home and work purposes, for example, and you can have ID Packs by content partners like Disney, ESPN, and Yahoo.
The Optimus S itself is billed as an entry-level affordable smartphone. It has a 3.2-inch HVGA display, and no QWERTY keyboard. However, it does ship with Android 2.2 and it has WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G/EV-DO. It will also act as a mobile WiFi hotspot for up to five devices. The Optimus S should be available for only $49.99 after a two-year service agreement, and it will be in stores on October 31st 2010.
ID swap
You can swap out different ID Packs by pressing the ID button on the home screen. You'll then be presented with a list of ID Packs that you've already downloaded. Just select one and your entire home screen will switch over to the new ID Pack. An ID Pack doesn't just consist of custom widgets and applications; you can also have Packs that automatically turn certain settings on and off.
Keyboard
Even though the Optimus S doesn't have a physical keyboard, it does have a virtual keyboard with Swype.
Slim
The Optimus S is very slim and lightweight. It comes in both titanium and burgundy. The back is clad in a nice soft touch finish that makes it pleasant to hold in the hand.
Camera
The LG Optimus S has a 3-megapixel camera on the back. It also has a 3.5mm headset jack and stereo Bluetooth.
