Mozilla's cost-conscious prototype Firefox phone
A year after the Firefox smartphone OS made its debut, Mozilla and its partners returned to Mobile World Congress with a whole new set of Firefox phones. And this time, we even got a Firefox tablet. Most of the devices came from handset makers like Alcatel and ZTE, but Mozilla also showed its own prototype of a Firefox OS phone expected to go on sale later this year for $25.
Alcatel One Touch Fire C
Entry-level and affordable (59 euros or $81), the One Touch Fire C has a 3.5-inch HVGA screen and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. And to keep that price so cheap, the camera resolution is just VGA.
Alcatel One Touch Fire E
Slim, trim, and compact, the One Touch Fire E flaunts a big 4.5-inch screen plus dual-core processing, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage. That makes it a bit underpowered compared with many Android phones.
Alcatel One Touch Fire 7
The One Touch Fire 7 is the first Firefox OS-based tablet. Its specs include a 7-inch qHD (960x540-pixel) display, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, VGA front and rear cameras, 4GB on internal storage (up to 32GB with a microSD card), and 2GB of RAM.
Huawei Y300
The 4-inch WVGA (800x480) Huawei Y300 runs Firefox OS v1.1, features a dual-core 1GHz Snapdragon 8225 processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB storage, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, a 5-megapixel rear camera, and a VGA front camera.
ZTE Open C
Featuring entry-level specs in a bright orange or blue construction, the ZTE Open C is 3G handset with a 4-inch WVGA display, Firefox's latest v1.3 OS, a 1.2GHz, dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor, and a 3-megapixel camera.
ZTE Grand Memo II
The ZTE Grand Memo II LTE has a matte plastic textured design and a massive 6-inch HD display (a bump from its 5.7-inch predecessor). It's powered by a Snapdragon 400 processor (last year's model used either a Snapdragon 600 or 800 chip depending on the variant), it runs Android 4.4 KitKat, and it has a 13-megapixel camera.
Alcatel One Touch Fire S
The One Touch Fire S shares the same metallic finish as the Idol 2 Mini S, which gives it a premium feel. Features include a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, LTE connectivity, NFC and an 8-megapixel camera.
