The D3 supersedes the D2H as Nikon's high-speed pro shooter.
Pressing the AF-On button flips up the mirror and initiates focusing when in one of the D3's Live View modes.
In addition to an LCD on top of the D3, Nikon retains the small settings readout on the back, for the most frequently used shooting options.
The shutter speed and aperture lock, flash, bracketing, and continuous-shooting options are clumped into a single button/dial combo control on the top left of the D3's body.
Though it's found in the same place as it was on the D2Xs, the D3's metering dial is in an unusual location.
The curvy, inverted "V" atop the viewfinder is one of the D3's new design touches.
An HDMI output is the new must-have jack for displaying photos on an HDTV.
