Cosplay at Comic-Con 2016: From Stormtroopers to Sansa Stark
One thing you can count on seeing at this year's Comic-Con in San Diego is a lot of incredibly costumed convention-goers. Here's just a sampling of what we've seen so far.
Steampunk
We're right in the middle of things at the 2016 Comic-Con International in downtown San Diego, and you can't shake a stick around here without hitting someone who is dressed in an amazing outfit. Well technically, you probably couldn't shake a stick at all considering how packed with people it is, but you get the idea.
We're starting off with this attendee rocking a sweet steampunk outfit, but be sure to look through the whole gallery to see a wide spectrum of costume types.
Final Fantasy VII
The Final Fantasy video game series is legendary in the gamer community, and this fellow is decked out in his best Cloud Strife costume, complete with Cloud's trademark Buster Sword.
Cloud Strife
That hair is on point.
Mulan!
Disney's mighty Mulan, complete with sunbrella. Fancy and functional (it's sunny out here in San Diego).
Mera
Ahoy, here's someone dressed up as the DC Bombshells version of Mera, queen of Atlantis and wife of Aquaman.
Widowmaker
It took 80 hours to whip up this costume of Widowmaker from the video game Overwatch.
Fur real
This cosplayer, who goes by @Zhivagooo on Twitter, braved the heat to show off this costume. That's dedication right there.
Howdy, pardner!
We don't know if this gunslinger was here to maintain law and order, but he looks pretty sharp either way.
Who's scruffy-looking?
This bearded Leia looks so happy it's contagious.
Wicked cool!
The Wicked Witch of the West from "The Wizard of Oz" not only looked great but was also singing to the crowds.
Loretta Vampz
Pro cosplayer Loretta Vampz does her part to keep the zombie population in check here at Comic-Con.
Phasma and Rey
Captain Phasma and Rey seem to be getting along pretty well at Comic-Con.
Beatrix Kiddo
Looks like the bride found Bill. Or someone who got in her way at the very least.
Gimme those Star Wars!
Han Solo strikes a pose with a member of Red Squadron.
Aquaman
Tridents are recommended by four out of five Aquamans.
Star Wars a la 'steampunk'
Steampunk and Star Wars: the two great tastes that go better together!
So happy together
This couple worked all year to collect the pieces to make their snappy steampunk ensembles.
A rather smiley fellow
This gunfighter brings a taste of the Day of the Dead to Comic-Con.
Boba Fett
This snazzy Boba Fett hadn't melted from the heat despite the armor and helmet. Because Boba Fett is a badass.
Diva Plavalaguna
The Diva, from "Fifth Element," makes an apperance at Comic-Con.
Hades
Hades took a break from the underworld to visit sunny San Diego.
Thoronald
Maybe Big Macs can give you muscles after all.
Game of Thrones
From left to right, Jon Snow, Sansa Stark and Petyr Baelish.
Old Man Logan
Sure, he may be old, but Logan's still looking pretty sharp.
Harley and Ivy
Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy take a break from mayhem and mischief for a quick pic.
Supergirl and Cyclops
There's not shortage of superheros at Comic-Con.
X-Women
Storm, Emma Frost and Phoenix look like they're warming up.
Sneaky, he is
Looks like Yoda's hitching a ride with these two.
Manga-inspired cosplay cousins
These costumes were inspired by Manga, a style of Japanese comic books and graphic novels.
Kumameme
This meme featuring Kumamon, the mascot of Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, comes to life here at Comic-Con.
A very interesting trio
On the left and in the center, we have "Mad Max"-inspired original costumes. On the right, we have My Little Pony's Rainbow Dash if she were a Ghostbuster. That definitely counts as original.
Who doesn't like steampunk?
This convention-goer has been a steampunk fan for seven years.
Captains courageous
Captain Marvel and Captain America have the situation under control.
Madame Vastra and the Doctor
Doctor Who fans take their costumes seriously.
