Audi Q7 Virtual Cockpit brings new display to SUV at CES 2015 (pictures)
Before unveiling the updated Q7 SUV here at the 2015 International CES, Audi gave CES attendees a look at its new cabin electronics interface, an advanced system similar to that of the new Audi TT.

Audi will be showing off an update to its Q7 SUV this year, but before that happens, here's a look at its high-tech cockpit. The cabin gets two displays and two Android tablets integrated with the car.

Audi Q7 Virtual Cockpit
Similar to the Virtual Cockpit Audi created for the new TT model, the Q7 gets a large LCD for the driver display, and adds a more traditional rectangular display on the dashboard for passenger use. Running graphics for both these displays is an Nvidia T30 processor.

The 12.3-inch LCD in front of the driver shows crucial information, including virtual gauges for vehicle and engine speed.

In front of the shifter, Audi has a modified version of its current MMI controller, using a touchpad and switches to select menu items on the screen.

The driver display can be dominated by a map, helping the driver navigate. In this mode, virtual gauges are still shown in a smaller format.

Unlike the Audi TT, the Q7 retains a rectangular LCD, letting the passenger see media and navigation info as well as the driver.

Much of what is shown on the center LCD mirrors what is shown on the driver display.

The Q7 will be the first Audi model to offer its new Android tablets. Unlike a typical tablet, these are tightly integrated with the car, able to control media and use the car's Wi-Fi hotspot.

The custom Audi app on the Android-powered tablets shows a semicircular menu, harmonizing with the car's own graphic design.

Rear-seat passengers can use the tablets to view navigation, and even set a destination for the car.
