2010 Acura ZDX preview drive photos
Acura invited us out for an early drive in the all new ZDX, a model that will go on sale this winter. The ZDX is a unique design, combining the elements of an SUV and sports car.
For this preview drive, Acura made a number of ZDXes available with different trim levels.
The ZDX is built on Acura's MDX SUV platform, and is designed to staunch sales bleeding from that market.
The design is very clean, and the beaked grille actually fits the proportions of the ZDX well.
Glass extends from the hood, through the windshield, over the roof, and down through the hatchback.
The rear door handles are hidden in the graphics of the C pillar.
The cargo area isn't as large as that in the MDX SUV, but the ZDX is more designed for a couple with modest carrying needs.
The ZDX has one of the most luxurious cabins of Acura models, featuring nicely stitched leather and ventilated seats.
Rear seating capacity isn't large, but it is adequate, able to fit most people.
The center stack, dubbed the monolith by Acura engineers is unobtrusive when the car is off.
When the car is turned on, back lights illuminate labels for the buttons, a neat little bit of techno-wizardry.
The six speed automatic is a welcome update for Acura, which had been relying on its five speed automatic for all too long.
The hard drive-based navigation system includes traffic and weather alerts for any programmed route.
An impressive new feature, iPod search, lets you use voice command to ask for music by artist and album name.
The rear-view camera includes three views. This is the normal view.
The wide view on the rear camera gives you a better idea of objects to the sides of the car.
The top-down view is useful for judging the distance between the bumper and any objects immediately behind the car.
