AgileBits, makers of popular password managing app 1Password, has brought its Watchtower feature to iOS. Previously available through the company's website and Mac app, Watchtower was first designed to check logins in your account against services impacted by the Heartbleed bug back in early 2014.

Fast-forward to today, and Watchtower now includes other vulnerabilities and security risks found across the Web.

In other words, when the feature is enabled for your 1Password vault, the app will let you know if you should change your log-in credentials due to a security risk found or reported for a particular site.

After installing 1Password 6.2 from the App Store, you'll need to enable Watchtower by following these steps:

  • Launch 1Password
  • Tap on the Settings icon.
  • Select Security from the list of options.
  • Enable 1Password Watchtower by sliding the switch to the On position.

After Watchtower is enabled, you'll find a red banner alerting you when you need to take action on an account's credentials. Once you change your password for the respective account, the alert will go away.
