Whistle while you eat with the Fred Sip & Slide spoon
The Fred & Friends Sip & Slide is a spoon that incorporates a slide whistle. So much for a nice quiet dinner.
Ah, the soothing sounds of music. When paired with a nice meal, the notes waft through the air, mingling with the scent of the food, creating an atmosphere that is at once delicate and intimate.
And then there is the slide whistle. The comedic counterpart to slip-ups, mess-ups and boo-boos has no part in a hot kitchen. Unless of course, the slide whistle is in the hands of a child. And attached to a spoon.
The Fred & Friends Sip & Slide ($12) is a combination slide whistle and a spoon. The novelty utensil has all the things you would want from a spoon: it's BPA-free and made of food-safe ABS plastic together along with a zinc alloy. It also has something one might not expect from a spoon: a non-slurping soundtrack.
Eating utensils can be turned into trains with a "choo choo" sound effect or airplanes with a hearty "vroom." As for what it all adds up to in the imagination this time around is anybody's guess. Chances are, you won't be able to hear yourself think. But then again, pair it with other musical tableware that Fred and Friends has to offer (such as these musical straws) and then maybe you can create a nice little orchestra at mealtime -- certainly one more musical than boring old trains and planes.
