Panasonic unveils first 1080p LCD projection TV

![]() The product: While we'll take Panasonic's "first" claim with a grain of salt, the company is at least the first to announce an LCD-based rear-projection HDTV featuring 1080p HDTV resolution. Many manufacturers call 1080p "true HDTV." It uses an array of 1,920x1,080 pixels, enough to reproduce every bit of detail from 1080i high-def sources. This should also go a long way toward combating the "screen-door" effect found in some lower-resolution LCD chips. The specs include:
