Chromebooks get new features

Laptops
Google's Chromebook just turned 10. So of course, Google added a bunch of new stuff. [MUSIC] First up is the phone hub. If you've got an Android phone, you get control of your phone right from your Chromebook. Google says that you'll be able to see the tabs you opened on your phone, check your phone's battery life and even respond to messages. As an aside, if you use the Google Messages app, you can link up your phone and your browser. Just head to your settings and hit messages for web. Follow the instructions and you're set. This works on any browser and you don't need a Chromebook for that. If you've got a PC, check out Microsoft's your phone. The app lets you link your PC to your Android for lots of control. Back to the new features there's tote. This lets you pin files, screen recordings, whatever to a shelf. Clicking the tote icon on the bottom right will show you those files. That seems very useful when you're working with lots of different documents. Speaking of screen recordings, taking screenshots and screen recordings is now built in. You can find that in the quick settings, media trolls are finally in the quick Quick Settings, no need to dig around for that tab that's playing music. Those controls can be pinned as well. Google has expanded Wi Fi sync. That means if your phone already has information for a Wi Fi network, your Chromebook can automatically Directly connect to that network. To set that up, go to your Chrome OS settings and turn Wi Fi sync on. Criminal SS virtual desktop feature called desks is updated. When you reboot your windows They were in before the reboot. This is great when you're working on projects. A tiny update was made to the clipboard feature. Now, if will remember the last 5 items you copied. So, instead of having to hunt down wherever you copied that text, you'll have a little library. A lot of these features seem to be similar to how android handles things. The quick settings is starting to look a lot more like the notification panel. On Android. On top of that Chromebooks keep getting more and more integrated with Android. With that phone hub, how much longer can Chrome OS and Android be separate? You can already run Android apps on Chromebooks. I still expect Google to eventually fold Chrome OS into an app kind of like Samsung's dex when you need a desktop. It's there when you don't It's gone. The Wi Fi sync function is really smart. By the way, Apple has a similar system with its iPhones and Macs. It's like magic when you see that you don't need to type in your Wi Fi password again. Whatever gets you online faster is always a good idea, especially for Chromebooks. Way back when I got to try out the original Chromebook, the CR 48. It was such an interesting idea build an OS out of a browser. I will say that today's Chromebooks are vastly better than that old guy. I've been I as actor, you're my favorite audience and I will see you online.
