Zvox SoundBase 670 is a great speaker base for hard of hearing
Tv & Audio
Are you having problems understanding dialogue on your TV?
And I'm not just talking about the new Doctor Who because no one understands him.
Most TV speakers these days are mounted on the bottom or even behind your TV and it can be difficult to get a lot of volume or clarity out of them.
Hi, I'm Ty Pendlebury and Zvox's new SoundBase 670 aims to give you not only home theater punch, but also clearer sounding dialogue.
The new SoundBase come with an accuvoice mode which greatly boosts intelligibility on speech.
Though this is to the detriment of other sounds in a scene, but perfect for the news or dramas.
If you hate loud commercials too, there is also a mode for that.
But I found it not as successful making speech less understandable.
The sound base is a large speaker at 3 foot across but still fairly squat at 3 inches high.
It will accommodate big tvs though, up to 70 inches.
This is a 3.1 channel system with 3 subwoofers underneath the unit and a center speaker in addition to left and right.
It's got a whole bunch of inputs.
Three digital, and three analog, there are no HMDI.
It does have a subwoofer out though, if base is your thing.
The ZBox also has Bluetooth in with app deck.
Music playback is okay, though not up to competitors like the much cheaper Sony Sound Base.
And maybe sound a little clipped dynamically too.
The reason to buy this though, is if you really want dialogue enhancement or if you have a lot of different components that you need to plug into the TV.
But if you just want to make cable TV sound better, go for the Pioneer SoundBase instead.
This is [INAUDIBLE] for CNet.com.
