Zenvo shows us what 1,163 Danish horsepower looks like with TS1
[MUSIC]
Welcome to the Zenvo TS1.
This is quite a short road test.
We got invited yesterday to come and drive this car, so you know while we Give it a go.
So apologies if the production values of this film are not quite up to what you've been expecting, this is the only way we could do it.
Zenvo is a Danish manufacturer that has been around for about 13 years.
The original Zenvo ST1 was a car that I saw plenty of times at Geneva motor shows.
And, of course, there was the infamous review on Top Gear that ended in somewhat heated circumstances.
There were only about a dozen of that original ST1 produced but then, a few years ago, the company was taken over by a wealthy new Russian investor and since then the car has undergone some re-engineering.
This the 1.2 million Euro TS1 is the result.
I love that these cars exist Small manufacturers do just pop up occasionally.
It is exciting I love that somebody an hour or so south of Copenhagen seemingly pretty much in the middle of nowhere has decided to build their own supercar.
It is all built and manufactured in house pretty much.
They've got their own oven.
[UNKNOWN] that sort of thing.
This is a pre-production car, so there are a few little [UNKNOWN] to be maintained too high, but otherwise it's very representative, such as a full carbon fiber body.
And although externally it looks very similar to the original car, time has not diminished its angry, angular presence.
Hexagons are a theme Just like in a Lamborghini.
I'll let others argue about who had the idea first.
The Chasse remains a lightweight steel and aluminum [UNKNOWN] with steel subframes but it's the engine and gear box that receive the real attention.
Gone is the old 6.8 liter V8 with both a turbo charger and a super charger.
In it's place is a 5.8 liter V8 with two super chargers.
The result is an enthusiastic 1,163 brake horse power and 811 pounds of torque.
It's not running the full 1,163 brake horse power stake safety.
They tuned it, various customers driving it so they tuned it to about 850 To be.
But I expect the owner, wet October day in [UNKNOWN].
It's more to love wouldn't you agree?
[INAUDIBLE]
[SOUND]
That's a lot of acceleration.
I realized that a lot of acceleration isn't particularly enlightening.
Or will the surprised expression on my face perhaps give you some idea of what I meant?
Zenvo claims that in optimum spec, the TS1 will do naught to 60 miles an hour in just 2.8 seconds, and reach 233 miles an hour all in.
This car was actually running the taller diff ratios.
And the nature of the engine means it feels like more of a monumental surge of shove than a [UNKNOWN] whip crack when you get on the throttle.
It's a memorable experience nonetheless.
Other surprising things, well the ride is actually very good.
So this is got double wishbone suspension and KW dampers all around.
And the ride, this road is Not good.
But the ride is actually surprisingly is in [UNKNOWN].
There's not a lot of travel in the arches but what travel it's got it's using surprisingly effectively.
It's a single clutch and it's got dog gears in it.
Which is interesting.
It makes a quite a brutal shift but it's different.
You have to work with it a bit like you would With a normal manual gearbox really I suppose.
It has a gearbox of old.
It's not unpleasant.
You've got a very light action effect on these paddles.
You can actually get a manual gearbox on this car if you want.
You probably be quite busy I imagine.
[SOUND] It's quite a heavy car this.
It's over 1,700 kilos.
But it doesn't actually feel it, it feels lighter than I expected.
What's not to like about another super car out there?
It certainly makes the world a brighter place.
For its paint job if nothing else.
[LAUGH] [SOUND]
So there we are.
That was the Zenvo TS1.
As you probably gathered, it was Somewhat rushed, but I don't know when I'm going to get to drive that car again.
So you take any opportunity to go.
And there's a lot to like about it.
There's a lot that's fine, it's a pre-production car, and these small companies- there's a sense that they get obsessed by this headline figure of 1200 brake horsepower and then they see 3 brake horsepower.
When you are factoring such a thing, how cool would it be too ditch sip charges and just have a flat plane crank naturally aspirating v-8 and a manual gearbox.
And then they couldn't charge 4.2 milion Euros for it.
It's a moot point whether they can anyway or not.
But having said that, the quality of the car was something I was really surprised about.
Given that I just stepped out of This Bentley Bentayga that Ive been driving around this week the which is pretty much unsurpassed to get into that and not feel that it was in any way shoddy is it's a big round of applause to them the car fibre is lovely the aluminium is beautiful So that was really impressive.
The other thing that's impressive was the suspension setup.
I mean there's no different modes or anything, no buttons to press for comfort or race or anything like that.
And the KW dampers dealt with British B roads incredibly well.
So there we are, I would be really intrigued to drive it again, on a racetrack.
I think with a little bit more room to play, these Steering is very light on that car.
It feels like it's very rear biased, in sort of all aspects, because it's got a big 345 section rear tire, and relatively narrow 265 section front tire.
And, the weights in the back, in the gear box, etcetera etcetera.
So, I think that could possibly be, sort of, Yeah, adjust it a bit, but all around, I'm glad we experienced it.
It's a car I've seen around for awhile in terms of the Zenvo name, so there we are.
I hope it doesn't disappear, I hope I get to drive it again.
