Say goodbye to YouTube on Amazon Fire TV.
In a statement, Google said it will no longer support YouTube on the Echo Show and Fire TV.
Why?
Because of a lack of reciprocity.
The Google statement said, we've been trying to reach an agreement with Amazon to give consumers access to each other's products and services.
But Amazon doesn't carry Google products like Chromecast and Google Home But doesn't make Prime video available for Google Cast and last stopped selling some Nest's latest products Google says it hopes it can reach an agreement to resolve these issues.
The YouTube app should cease to function on Amazon Fire TVs and the Echo show starting only January 1st, 2018 if the parties cannot come to an agreement.
This is not the first spat between the two companies.
You Tube disappeared from Amazon's Echo show device in September of this year.
But returned in November.
The Echo Show with the Alexa enabled echo with a 7 inch touch screen.
In 2015, Amazon kicked out the Google Chromecast and the Apple TV from it's store.
Because they do not work well with Amazon Prime Video.
The Apple TV came back to Amazon in September of this year.
The Amazon Fire TV Stick and Fire TV with 4k are two of the best-selling media streamers on Amazon.
The Fire TV Stick was its second most popular seller for Amazon's 2016 holiday season.
Amazon issued the following statement, Echo Show and Fire TV now display a standard web view of YouTube.com and point customers directly to YouTube's existing website.
Google is setting a disappointing precedent by selectively blocking customer access to an open website.
We hope to resolve this with Google as soon as possible.
