If you're letting social media apps kill your monthly data plan you're doing it all wrong.
Even if you have an unlimited data plan many carriers will start to throttle your speeds once you hit a threshold.
There are a lot of reasons why you might hit that threshold.
For me it's all about Facebook, Instagram and Shapchat.
All of these apps are data hogs, but also, all of these apps have settings which let you cut back on how much data they use.
On Instagram, go to Settings, then Cellular Data Use, then enable Use Less Data.
On Facebook, the issue is autoplay videos.
Go to the app, and then go to More, then Settings Account Settings, Video and Photos, and then Autoplay.
Make sure you have Wi-Fi Connections Only selected.
On Snapchat, launch the app and swipe down.
Then tap the gear icon, tap Manage, and then Enable Travel Mode.
This way stories won't load in the background.
If you use those apps and you change those settings, you'll see a huge difference in how much data you use.
But if you wanna make sure other apps aren't also killing your data plan, head over to Settings then Cellular and you'll see a list of apps and how much data they use.
And now you're doing it right!
