Xbox Series X will have impressive backwards compatibility
[MUSIC]
Microsoft Phil Spencer just spilled the beans on details for the upcoming Xbox series X console.
And it's an impressive custom RDMA and Gen two processor from AMD, it's four times faster than the Xbox 1. The ability to hit 12 teraflops or twice as much as the Xbox 1 X, which I don't know seems like a lot of teraflops and graphical bells and whistles like ray tracing which everyone's talking about.
Perhaps my favorite feature, though, backwards compatibility with the original Xbox, the Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
Which kinda sucks for me, cuz I just unloaded a bunch of older games to Gamestop.
But Eli, what do you think, you're excited?
I am excited, obviously, when it comes to a next generation of a video game console, there's gonna be a lot of major processor jumps.
A lot has happened since even the Xbox 1X-
Right.
Came out just a few years ago.
Salsa drive is also good at that.
Right, salsa drive is one of the bigger things that I'm excited for.
Yeah, yeah.
Ray tracing which will have better lighting effects on the game Games will be nice.>> Would you feel like that's the one feature that everyone like Nvidia talks about?
Everybody's talking about Sony's talking about it.
A lot of the specs were like, I guess unless you're a hardcore gamer look, maybe explain for folks who aren't really into like that, that deep into the game and we're like, what is ray tracing?
Like, why should I care about>> it's another level on a high level, another level of realism
Some to these games.
In terms of what?
The details of latest versions like you'll get more just more regular details?
You're exploring an open world, you'll have a more realistic look.
I guess Red Dead Redemption or whatever.
If they make a sequel to that, that will look a lot nicer.
And coupled with all the other benefits, those 12 teraflops and the improved AMD graphics AMD graphics By the way, I believe are gonna also be in the PlayStation 5 that Sony's already talking about retracing is a feature that will be in the PlayStation 5.
We're seeing a lot of the similar specs just like there was on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4
Right
That may be the same on the PlayStation 5 though Sony has been oddly quiet.
They have for the last few months.
Yeah.
Whereas Microsoft that did the Game Awards reveal the actual console.
That was a big step.
Obviously today's news, Sony's biggest news over the last couple of months has been the logo, the logo, the CSS, Which is just.
That was the biggest, biggest baller move ever.
I see yes.
It's like come here check it out we got.
That's one of the biggest mistakes.
I know.
Well mostly because it was such a non story right.
