Well, Samsung impacts you any better We break down all the Samsung leaks and expectations Stick around for daily charts [MUSIC] Good morning and welcome to The Daily charge. It's Monday, February 10. I'm Joni salzmann And I'm Eli Blumenthal here today's headlines [SOUND] Samsung's big unpacked event is tomorrow CNET will be covering every micro com of news. Looking at Eli phones are always in the spotlight. So what are we expecting? We're expecting four phones.>> Four? okay.>> That's the main group, three Galaxy S 20, a higher and middle as 20 the estimate as 20 plus And then a top of the line S20 Ultra which will be the flagship of the bunch. Right. Cameras are expected to get big upgrades. The S20 Ultra may have something like a 100x zoom. So what I think Samsung according all the rumors and leaks are calling a space zoom, to get really, really close with your subject. XDA developer porter, Max Weinbach, has been basically leaking all of these things. Yeah. So most of this stuff's already on the Internet, Yeah. Whether on Twitter, or we've been covering it on CNET.com. Yeah. So lots of phones, and then a flip phone- Right, what's the fourth phone? Motorola Razr, so we have the Razr here. This is Motorola's new flip phone. That's a smartphone. Samsung is rumored to have one called the Galaxy Z flip, I guess it's no longer a rumor. We don't know ,they didn't officially give the name. Right. Rght, but we saw, they had an ad during the Oscars last night. Yeah, they outright Just revealed it during the telecast last night. As a way to drum up interest for unpacked. Everybody, tune in just like you're not tuning in for the Oscars! And they put another ad out today with a partner that they're working with, a luxury brand in New York. Yeah. So, yeah, Samsung has decided that, you know what, all the leaks are showing off their stuff, they might as well just start putting them out. Well Google did that too, right? Yeah. Google did that, a lot of companies have increasingly decided that, you know what, we'll hold an event But in the I guess months and days leading up to it, which was announced ahead of time. Yeah. so what else is likely to be coming beyond phones so beyond phones. Headphones have been rumored galaxy buds plus, we don't really know exactly what they're going to be showing off, but they will be kind of like an air pods competitor. Yeah. So something in that range. I think rumored pricing that was on the internet was about $150. For those Yeah. AirPods generally started at 160 You want AirPods pro those are 250 so we'll see how they stack up their watches are always possible. Galaxy home Mini. Yeah. Google, Samsung's rather rival to Google's nest home mini and the Alexa echo die there any on the only hunches about surprises about what could like That out of left field could pop up. There have been some rumors about virtual reality or all bented reality headset. Yeah. Possible that shows up. [CROSSTALK] watched in a while. Well, there, yeah. They haven't done anything with their gear. [CROSSTALK] in a long time. Yeah, their gear has been very, very, quite. But also, like Nothing really has been happening for you. Nothing has been happening in VR- No, that's not true, I'm an advocate of VR- Don't tell that to Scott. I know, I'm an advocate of VR, too. But it seems like the hype was super-hype, and now it's just kind of murmurs. Yeah, it's kinda went the way of 3-D TV- Yeah. Or something, it was really buzzy, really cool- Yeah. And there was a bunch of stuff in the initial onset, and then everything disappeared. So VR may be a surprise. Is there anything you think all of a sudden? The watch is possible cuz Samsumg hasn't had a watch in a little bit. So it's very possible they'll come out with something new, especially with the Apple Watch already being out there. They've obviouly been updating that yearly. We're on to Series 5 on that. And Google's you know, acquisition of Fitbit. So who knows if they're gonna try to get back into the wearable game.>> Well, Samsung didn't give us that brief preview of what we'll see it on tax last night during the Oscars. It had an ad that had spinny flipped Phones that looked really chic and tiny and cute and whatever. And probably expensive. Right. The rumored price on this is $1,400. My gosh. Well, how much is the razor? The razor's 15, and they're 20 on Verizon. So it's a bargain. Yeah, I mean, the galaxy note was about $2,000 and was always phone is 2600. So for 1400 dollars as a steal, you might as well just buy them all.>> Well, you know, who tried to buy them all as netflix they tried to buy all the Oscars. But even though they had the most nominations of any studio, including two nominations, for best picture, Big headline of the Oscars is parasite. Yeah, kind of dominated. Yeah, it's dominated got the most awards also won Best Picture. It was the first time a Foreign Language Film won the top prize. Did you have any highlights from the Oscars last night? I thought the opening what you nominate was That's righteous, that's very righteous. Righteous is a good word for it. Getting Brad Pitt and Leonardo Dicaprio to sing along, even for a second. It was cringy. It was, but it was also like, okay. I don't blame Genelle for it, but they were like, why not? Shoot your shot, why not? [LAUGH] So you know what? Good on her, yeah I thought the Jeff Bezos bit and that it was funny. That was funny. That was funny, and who knows how much Jeff Bezos if you paid to get in that model. Well I mean- He could. He paid in the sense of having More money than God and financing lots of- As they had mentioned. But you know there were no Amazon movies that were nominated this year. Yeah. So last year, no, two years ago, Amazon beat Netflix to getting kind of like one of those prestigious Oscars. Because they had Manchester by the Sea win. Netflix last year, they were the running for best picture with robots and get out there and I'm running twice this year It's kind of interesting to see at the Academy. I don't know if it's conscious or subconscious that they're not honoring Netflix. But it definitely seems to be something that as you mentioned, is hanging over these award shows as these streaming players join the fight Yeah, for sure. And, you know, I don't even know do you think it's a That's the thing, they have been winning more awards though. You know Lord Dorn, she got her first Oscar for, actually no, yeah her first Oscar- Her first Oscar and Bradwick got his but bradwick wasn't on a netflix show. Yeah, yeah, it was Netflix's first time winning an Oscar for acting. So they're winning more of these like big highlighted- Right and Jennifer Anniston was AppleTV won a bunch of awards for the Morning show. Right. So streaming Streaming services are producing very high quality content. I mean, the fact that the Irishman and marriage are both nominated heavily this year. Yeah, just speaks to that. It's clutching those Oscars. [LAUGH] But even if you spend through the nose it's really hard. Right, when he saw Avengers endgame was nominated, that's the biggest movie of the year. Exactly.
