There's a bit of a theme going on at CES 2018.
If you look closely a lot of companies making smart glasses are also dabbling in voice and AI too.
Rokid Glass is made by a Chinese company, Rokid, that focuses on AI.
And in particular in this case voice and visual layout.
Rokid Glass.
A single display in one eye.
And with voice assistant and gesture controls, it's supposed to be able to allow you to control and access things better.
The camera that's built in, according to Rokid, will also do also do facial And we'll be able to recognize characters and items on paper without markers.
Now, here, in a crowded Las Vegas convention hall, you can't get the voice AI to work.
We did see the facial recognition demo briefly, and the display, well, the fit is a little awkward on my face, but the idea is that maybe this design will get shrunken down a bit.
It will work on prescription lenses, it is wide enough that it can fit on my nose right now The idea here is very similar to what you see in music display.
This has Amazon's Alexa.
Does voice AI make sense with smart glasses?
And will smart glasses even work for average people?
When will that happen?
Well right now it seems like there's a lot of experimentation just trying to figure Figure out how voice can help, when of course, you're not gonna easily be able to grab controls, and swiping my not be so much fun.
Here at CES 2018, AR is largely an experiment in progress.
