All it takes is 5 minutes of charging to give a smartphone 5 hours of battery life.
Qolcom invented this super fast charging technology called Quick Charge 4 and device makers can start adding, Quick charging is one way to ease the pain of the drain, but there are some tricky problems Qualcomm had to solve.
Because if you charge too fast, it can overheat the battery, and that's not good.
No one wants another Note 7 mess on their hands.
So the technology manages the heat of the phone, and how much power the device is drinking up through the cable.
Any device that uses this will also need to have overheating protections inside the end you plug into the wall outlet.
The previous generations of Qualcomm's fast charging tech is in a few LH and HCG smart phones.
So chances are that next year's HTC and LG phones will incorporate this even faster charging technology.
But it goes beyond phones this can be used to fully charge up VR headsets and drones within a few minutes.
That means keeping your gadgets charged doesn't have to be a chore.
