Hey everyone.
I'm Sharon Vaknin for CNET.com taking a first look at the Vlingo virtual assistant for smarter TVs.
Now Vlingo is a technology that you've probably seen on Android and iPhone devices.
Now, Vlingo is a voice recognition technology that you've probably seen on Android and iOS devices but now it's coming to your home theater.
Vlingo lets you use your voice with your phone to make natural commands to your television.
For example from the seat of your couch you could say something like, I want to watch Modern Family or play Tomorrow Never Dies on Netflix, what movies are on, or how about a comedy...
You can even use the Vlingo app to set up recordings by movies or update your social networks like Facebook.
Now getting Vlingo on your television isn't as simple as just buying it.
Manufacturers of set top boxes, smart TV developers and cable providers will have to incorporate Vlingo software into their devices.
Vlingo virtual assistant for smarter TVs will likely come to Europe and the US soon but stay tune for more updates.
For CNET.com, I'm Sharon Vaknin at CES 2012.
