Trick or Treat? Apple's 'Scary Fast' Mac Event Makes Us Jumpy

Desktops
Speaker 1: Apple still has a few tricks left for us in the spooky season. It is having an event on October 30th. The theme is scary fast, and Apple is streaming this news at night. The stream is at 5:00 PM Pacific, 8:00 PM Eastern, right before Halloween. You know what? Let's do this right? Hit the lights. A new product will emerge from the Apple campus on the evening of the eve of All Hollows Eve under a full moon. Well, almost full. It's going to look full. [00:00:30] Apple is going all in on giving us the goosebumps with what Speaker 2: Is likely a Speaker 1: Boost in processors for Speaker 2: New Mac computers. Speaker 1: In other words, it's an M three event. At least Speaker 2: That's what we're expecting. Let me just put this Speaker 1: Away as we dust off the cobwebs of our older max to prepare for a new machine to rise in the Apple store. There's one more thing to go over. Will we feel like we're getting more trick or more treat? Will this news be a delight or a fright? I [00:01:00] can't help myself? It's a Halloween event. We're going to get corny. Candy corny. I'm Bridget Carey, and this is one more thing. If you have any doubt that this is a Mac event, then behold the animation teaser on Apple's sight and witness the ghostly apparition of the Mac finder icon face, which appears from the Apple logo just when he thought Apple was done for the year. Boo. New Macs are coming before the holiday shopping season and before the Apple Quarterly [00:01:30] earnings report on Thursday, November 2nd. The launch will be streamed online much later in the day than Apple's typical events. Speaker 1: So I really think Apple is going to have fun with this new twist on the time. Are we going to see executives in Halloween costumes a girl can dream, or did the Apple team film the video with night shots on Apple's campus? We only see shots typically in the daytime. It's hard to say why it is in the evening, but I hope [00:02:00] they lean into it with the theme of the presentation. We don't know what to expect for the jokes, but we do have a decent guess for the products. All signs point to a new iMac. Apple last updated the iMac in April of 2021. Now these 24 inch screen all in one iMac look like candy in their rainbow hues, all of which have an M one chip. But Apple is on the M two chip now, so it's about time the iMac gets a boost and I really [00:02:30] hope they keep the bright colors. Speaker 1: To further back this up, Bloomberg reports that Apple retail stores are in short supply of the iMac as well as some MacBooks, which reporter Mark Urman writes could also possibly get a refresh. The report says inventory of the 14 and 16 inch MacBook Pros have been low at other retailers, including Best Buy and Amazon with delivery listing as available in November, so that's a clue for you folks. All we know about Expected M three [00:03:00] chip are from rumors and reports like reports from Bloomberg's Mark Germond. He has been saying to expect the M three to have eight CPU cores and 10 GPU cores. We could see the M three to roll out to a number of products, including MacBooks and the next iPad Pro, but Apple is going to spread this out. Don't think every product gets the M three right away and iPads are looking like a next year thing. Speaker 1: It would be typical for Apple to have a Pro Max and ultra versions [00:03:30] of its M three chip, but will we see all that right away? That's a bit foggy. Apple could wait to roll out other meteor versions of the M three for later. Gerin also reports the M three generation of max could change the amount of memory offered, so we will have to keep an eye on that if it comes true. Right now, MacBook Pros can be ordered starting as 16 gigs. I think it's going to be more treat than trick. After all, if this was [00:04:00] a small update, apple could have just sent this out as an announcement for the company to stream it with an event invitation made up. This could really be something to sink our teeth into. If you want to watch along, it's going to be streamed on Apple's website and on Apple's YouTube channel starting at 5:00 PM Pacific time on Monday. Let me know in the comments what you most want to see and I'll catch you on the other side of it all. Thanks for watching.
