This LG Door-in-Door smart fridge is a disappointmentWith subtle smarts and matte black looks, the LG LFXS28566M intrigued us -- but its predictably warm Door-in-Door compartment spoils the appeal.
[MUSIC] Not all smart fridges have gigantic touch screens. case and point, the LG LFXS28566M and asking price of 3350 it's a relative fancy French door model or be it an assuming one. It is one of LG's door in door model, though, which means that you can press this little button on the handle to open the front panel of the door, exposing those indoor shelves without actually opening the door itself. And like I hinted at, this is a smart fridge too. Specifically it boasts an onboard wi-fi radio and it works with LG's Smart ThinQ app for Android. Droid and iOS devices and yes I promise that's how you pronounce it. Download that app and sync it up with your fridge and you'll be able to adjust settings, check the filter status, and even check the expiration dates of what you are storing inside. I like the energy saving modes that automatically cut down on usage during off hours and I like that the app will notify you if your kid leaves the door open. An integration of the Google assistant let you check the status of the fridge using voice command, which it seems pretty ho-hum, but it's there if you want it. With almost 28 cubic feet of total store space, you should have more than enough room to feed the whole family out of this thing, and the matte black finish does an outstanding job at repelling fingerprints too. It's non exciting design by any stretch but it is practical modern looking. And it includes a sorta basic features that you expect from it, like slide-in shelf. And a temperature adjustable pantry drawer. Now this want come as a surprise, if you're a regular fridge follower of mine but my biggest problem with this refrigerator is that door in door compartment. A lot of folks really like the feature but the problem is that thin door in front and the extra seam, both of those compromise performance. Just take a look at this heat map, these are the average temperatures from a 72 hour test at the fridge's default setting and as you can see, the entire door in door compartment Compartment runs room, with orange hot spots up to about 40 degrees Farenheit. You've got a lot of options if this is the kind of refrigerator that you're looking for, including models with better smarts, more unique features, and performance that isn't compromised by a gimmicky door on door compartment. My advice, keep shopping. [MUSIC]
