This hydrofoiling e-bike cruises on top of the water
Sport and Outdoors
Would you get if you like Lance Armstrong, Michael Phelps and Ilan musk into a room, you might get something like this.
We've taken a break from the show floor at CES 2020 to come out to Henderson, Nevada.
To take a look at this.
This is the man to five hydro foiler.
It's basically a motorized e bike.
That you can ride out onto the water.
The Hydrofoiler XE-1 can be launched from a dock, or with the foils already submerged.
And once you're going it's a sweet ride.
One, two, three, go.
Alright, I've been going here, getting up it's not hard turning is not easy.
While I'm getting end of it, and I'm trying not to let this hold keep going here.
All right, a little turn there
Because it's an E-bike once the pedals are turning to variable-assist electric motor kicks in.
It's capable of generating up to 460 watts of power to drive the propeller, giving this bike a top speed at 13 miles an hour.
Keep going, this is not so bad.
Go into these ducks here a little bit.
The XC1 has an aluminum frame, just like my road bike back home, but the three foils are made from carbon fiber which provide buoyancy and static lift.
The front tiller, which you control with the handle The mars helps cut through chop and small waves.
I found the bike to be surprisingly stable and highly maneuverable.
That would took a few tries to figure out turn.
The motor powered by a 70 cell lithium ion battery can run for about an hour.
On a charge, and it's quiet, which means there's not much to distract you from this surreal experience of riding a bike on top of the water.
The XC one weighs in at about 65 pounds and breaks Down into three major pieces for transport.
It's not impossible to imagine throwing it into the back of a van or on top of an SUV.
So far the bike has been deployed mostly at resorts and it fit right into the scene here on Lake Las Vegas, a picturesque and man made body of water that's roughly 40 minutes away from the strip.>> Okay, so this is the man to five Hydra foiler I found it pretty easy to pop right up.
Turning took a little bit of practice, but truly a new experience and a new way to be out in the water.
Super fun, they're available for purchase now.
The company is gonna be delivering them this summer and the price point is about 7,500 bucks so If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.
