Today we are in the back yard of the CNet smart home taking a look at the GE plug in outdoor smart switch.
At $40 bucks this plug is a solid deal but only if you have a Z wave gateway like a piper or a smart things hub.
In terms of basic features this plug gets the job done.
You can toggle whatever is plugged in to it on or off.
Depending on the app that you're using.
But you can also set it on a schedule.
It has a matte, black plastic case that's supposed to be weatherproof, but it can't really stand up to rain.
The external button is also too small for most people to be able to use comfortably.
Overall though, this plug is a very usable item.
No matter what Z-wave gateway or app you're using, set up is a breeze.
Although the performance differs slightly from app to app, chances are, if you like the integration system you have at your house, then you'll probably like the way this plug fits into it.
I'd recommend this plug to anyone who has a Z-wave gateway and needs an outdoor plug.
Plug, but for most other people this just isn't useable.
