The Porsche 911 Speedster is lighter, sexier and GT3-powered

Last year Porsche got our hearts all aflutter when it showed us a concept of a new 9/11 speedster.
And now it's a real production car, and I think it's one of the coolest debuts here at the New York Auto Show.
As you can see straight away, it's got a chopped windshield to give it that really cool speedster look as well as a new tunnel cover with aerodynamic humped behind the The two seats.
Now yes you can raise a manual, convertible soft top over the cabin, but frankly I think the Speedster looks at its best with the roof down.
Power comes from a full liter flat-6 engine which you may recognize from the 911 GT3.
It's got 502 horsepower, 346 power feet of torque and a 9000 RPM redline.
That engine's paired with a six speed manual transmission, which Porsche says is about 40 pounds lighter than its PDK dual clutch transmission.
Now speaking of weight loss, the 911 Speedster does without traditional door handles.
It's got fabric loop pulls in there instead.
And there's no air conditioning.
Although you can add the air conditioning back as a no cost option if you want it.
Well Frankly I think when you've got a convertible that can do 192 miles per hour, well, you'll be able to ventilate the cabin pretty well.
Other standard performance parts include carbon ceramic brakes, 20 inch wheels, rear-wheel steering and dynamic engine mounts.
So in other words, the 911 Speeder not only is going to look really cool, but it's going to be a riot to drive.
Now the bad news, if you wanted to get one of these, is it's gonna cost just a little under $276,000, and only 1948 will be built.
That number references 1948, or Porsche's birth year.
So if you want one, well you better call up your dealer right now.
