The long wait for the 5D Mark III has almost ended

Hi. I'm Laurie (Gruni?), senior editor of CNET here with a brief overview of the long awaited Canon EOS 5D Mark 3. The new sensor has vastly improved specs for both still and video and at 18 megapixels, it doesn't go overboard with the resolution. And yipee, the view finder now has 100% coverage, plus the camera inherits all the processing capabilities from the Digit 5 Plus which debuted with 1DS. Physically, the camera hasn't changed much from the 5D Mark 2 and feels the same total. So it's been updated with modern touches that Canon has evolved since the camera was released more than 3 years ago. Notably, it's got improved dust and weather steeling, a locking mode dial, albeit the locking design from the 60D which I don't really like, and a 7D like control for live view and movies. In addition to a comparison playback view, there's a dedicated button for rating photos. The control dial now serves as a touch pad for silent operation during movie shoots. Plus, it has a compact flash and SD Card slot but you still can't share settings across bodies, which is annoying. The menu system is just like that of the 1DS, extremely broad and deep with tons of options like the extreme customizabilty of the AF system and AF tracking system.
