Hi, I'm Molly Wood, and welcome to the Buzz Report, the show about the tech news
that everyone's talking about.
This week, I'm wearing the same clothes I was
wearing last week, because it's Thanksgiving, and I'm totally not here!
But I would
never leave you in the lurch ...
thus, I bring you our special Buzz Report
Thanksgiving Special: Tech Turkeys of 2010.
Let's begin with the Turkey Gadget of
the Year.
The Turkey Gadget of the Year is not a baster or a fryer or anything like that.
It's the Microsoft Kin ...
the
fastest fall from Gadget of the Week fame I've ever seen.
Oh, man.
But I hear the Kin is having a Verizon revival!
You never know, it could be the hot new thing of
2011!
Moving on to turkey news of the year, let's get to the stories that led to the jokes that almost write
themselves.
First up, the Mark Hurd Affair.
Has there ever been anything more tawdry, shocking, and explosive ...
without even involving any actual sex!?
What a letdown.
At least he landed on his feet.
rich white guys of silicon valley
Gotta love a boys club.
Moving on in turkey news, when Google swings and misses, Google misses big.
And it missed BIG with
Google Buzz.
So big.
Aftermath?
Google paid 8.5 million dollars in fines, none of which went to any USERS, and then promised
not to do anything like that again.
And then they went and sniffed your email addresses and passwords with
its WiFi sniffing Street View trucks.
Oh, Google.
But by far the biggest turkey of the year had to be the iPhone 4 antenna-gate scandal.
Otherwise known as
the time Steve Jobs got a little tiny bit dented in the PR department.
You're holding it wrong?
Really?
You know, those cases aren't free anymore.
So, lefties beware.
And finally, let's have a look at the turkey that clogged the tubes this year.
It's ...
well, it's us.
We owe you
an apology.
Really.
It's for Hitler Reacts to the Bed Intruder break-in.
Mixing an attempted-rape Internet
meme joke with a Hitler Internet meme joke has to be the poorest taste we've ever exhibited on our show.
HOWEVER.
It's by far our most successful Buzz Report-related YouTube video.
So, maybe we should watch a little bit
of it again.
Ah, wow.
Good/bad job us.
And that's the Buzz Report for this week, everyone.
I'm Molly Wood, and enjoy your turkey.
